About Microlabs

Technology

Microlabs has always viewed technology as a way of increasing efficiency. Over the past couple of years we have tried to keep up with the industry trend. We have done this by periodically upgrading and updating our instruments and information infrastructure to be in line with newer industry standards.

Microlabs now uses our Patient Management Information System (PMIS). Our PMIS is a company-wide database used to manage information on our patients and associates. This has allowed the access of results, as far back as half a decade, to be available in less than a minute. The PMIS is also integrated on a nationwide network of our centers. Healthcare providers can now access results from anywhere in the island no matter which center the patient attended.

Microlabs also uses cross-platform hybrid workstations. A cross-platform hybrid workstation is a workstation instrument that is able to perform assays from more than one area of clinical diagnostics. The most common cross-platforms are immunology and clinical chemistry. In Microlabs we use the Awareness Technologies ChemWell™ Cross-Platform Workstation. This platform is based on an Open-System. This allows Microlabs to adapt numerous assays on one instrument. This has allowed us to greatly increase our testing catalog and at the same time remain competitive.

Microlabs is also able to offer 18 parameter hematology testing. With our hematology solutions by ABX France®, Microlabs can meet the demand of even the most demanding hematologist. Our hematology solutions employs the latest in automated cell counting techniques; providing more accurate results than ever before. Our hematology solutions also include Automatic Abnormal Analysis (Triple A). Automatic Abnormal Analysis ensures that no erronous result will leave our hematology department. This is done by flagging abnormal results and repeating them on 3 different platforms, all automated.
